Collection: ORIGINS

A transformation of meaningful fragments from the past into new forms for the future - a design that honours the past and embraces new beginnings.

ORIGINS

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

The Origin Collection is rooted in meaningful transformation. Each design begins with fragments of precious metal - offcuts from past creations - gathered and fused together by flame. In this moment of renewal, the metal reshapes itself into new, sculptural forms, carrying subtle traces of what it once was while becoming something entirely unique.

The organic looking shapes of every piece are created by both intention and chance. The Origins Collection is a reminder to honour the old and celebrate the new - a celebration of resilience, reinvention, and the stories we choose to carry forward.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I know my order has been received?

A confirmation email will be sent automatically to you to confirm we have received your order. We will review this within 24 hours and will contact you if there are any problems. We will then get in touch when we are dispatching your item to inform you of your tracking number. Please feel free to contact us at any time. We check our email regularly and aim to respond to all queries within 24 hours.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

In the run-up to Christmas we are receiving a very high volume of orders, and our usual dispatch times have been extended. Thank you for your patience during this busy period.

In-Stock items (defined as those available to “Add to Cart” at checkout) are currently being dispatched in approximately 7–10 days.

Pre-Order items are being dispatched in approximately 2–3 weeks, as they are made especially for you and often still need to go through the hallmarking process.

Last Order Dates for Christmas Delivery
(Please note that these dates may move earlier if order volumes increase.)

In-Stock Items – Last order date: Monday 15th December.
Pre-Order Items – Last order date: Monday 8th December.

All Pre-Orders will be confirmed when received, and we will provide an estimated delivery date.

If you are ordering for a gifting deadline before Christmas, please let us know at checkout or by email. We will always do our best to help.

Why is the difference between In-Stock and Pre-Order items?

In-stock items that have an ‘Add-to-cart’ checkout are pieces we normally hold in stock. They are either already made or already hallmarked and simply require final assembly or finishing. These items can be prepared for faster dispatch and can be returned if informed within 14 days under our standard 28 day return policy.

Pre-Order items are pieces we do not usually keep in stock. They are specially handmade to order for you. All our Pre-Order items (defined by having a Pre-Order checkout button) are final sale and non-returnable (unless faulty or not as described). These items often take longer to dispatch because they may have to be sent away for hallmarking.

Are all your gold items plated or solid gold?

All our gold jewellery is made from 100% solid gold, independently tested and legally stamped with a hallmark guaranteeing its fineness. While plated gold jewellery has become more popular and fashionable, it is not something we will ever supply. In our view, plated gold is an imitation product - it cannot legally be described as gold. It is essentially a very thin layer of gold - only a few microns thick - applied over another metal, such as silver (known as gold vermeil) or other, cheaper base metals.

Although plating quality has improved over the years, it is incomparable to real, solid gold. Plating, regardless of thickness, will wear away over time, eventually exposing the metal beneath. Many reputable jewellers who sell plated items advise against wearing them every day, as the plating cannot withstand regular wear.

All of our jewellery is created using substantial quantities of solid precious metals, designed to endure lifetimes. For us, this is the true beauty of solid precious metal jewellery and why we are so passionate about creating it.

What is your returns policy?

We hope you are delighted with your MAIRIDH purchase. All our items are handmade or hand-finished to order.

All In-stock items (defined by having an ‘Add-to-cart’ checkout button) are eligible to be returned if we are informed of the return within 14 days under our standard 28 day returns policy. Please note we cannot except returns for earrings for hygiene reasons.

All Pre-Order items (defined by having a Pre-Order checkout button) will be handmade especially for you and are final sale which means they are not eligible for return. Personalised advice and product samples are available on request - please contact us.

Is everything hand made?

Almost all our collections are hand made with the exception of the necklace and bracelet chains. We source all our chains from a UK chain supplier. All our collections are created from 100% recycled precious metal sheet, wire or grain which we source within the UK. All our handmade pieces carry our full hallmark which is a legal requirement within the UK – this acts as a guarantee for life on the precious metal.

What is a hallmark?

A hallmark is a legally recognised set of symbols that confirms a jewellery piece has been independently tested and verified for precious metal content.

Our handmade pieces are hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office and include.

Sponsor’s Mark - our founder’s initials, 'EG'.
Fineness Mark - e.g., 925 (sterling silver) or 375 (9ct gold), showing metal purity.
Assay Office Mark - confirming the office that carried out testing.

Chains in our collections are not handmade but are sourced from a highly reputable UK supplier. They are also made from solid precious metal, tested independently and follow the same UK hallmarking guidelines.

Do you offer customisation?

As a small independent jeweller, we design unique collections that are crafted and finished by hand - meaning no two pieces are ever exactly the same. If you would like to customise one of our existing designs please get in touch and we'll be happy to look at alternative sizes, metals or engraving services. We are currently at capacity for fully bespoke designs and are unable to offer this service at present.
